Ramp from Highway 350 to 470 to Close Nov. 16

LEE'S SUMMIT- The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) will close the ramp from 350 highway westbound to I-470 eastbound this Monday, November 16 at 7 a.m. This ramp is part of the Blue Parkway construction project, which is a cost-share partnership between the city of Lee's Summit and MoDOT. The ramp will remain closed through mid-December.

The ramp has experienced several accidents since opening more than six months ago. MoDOT engineers tried lowering the speed of the ramp and increasing signing to address the accident rate.  However accidents continue to occur.

"To improve the safety of this ramp, we need to increase the slant of the roadway through the curve from a four percent slant to an eight percent slant.  This should help to address the rate of accidents on this ramp, making it safer for drivers," said Tom Markway, resident engineer for the Blue Parkway project.

While the ramp is closed, a detour will be in place. Drivers should continue past the closed exit to the Colbern Road exit, then turn left onto Colbern Road and exit onto 350 highway eastbound to the I-470 loop ramp.
