Earlier this morning JKV Public Safety received an alert message stating that a 5.6 earthquake hit in Oklahoma, with the epicenter in North Central Oklahoma. Minor damage has been reported there. We are not aware of any resulting injuries.
There also have been reports of this earthquake being felt in the Metro area, and on the JKV campus. The timing is interesting, because this comes just on the heels of JKV Public Safety participating in a 5-state multi-jurisdictional earthquake disaster drill last week. It just reminds us how essential emergency preparedness is in the mitigation of adverse events.
JKV Public Safety is in contact with local, state and federal emergency management. Public Safety, Risk Management, and the Executive Staff will maintain a constant watch for further development and will respond accordingly.
Public information is being posted on JKV communication sites.
Since it is the weekend, for immediate needs call Public Safety as usual.
Working hard to keep you safe.
Thank you,
Craig Faith, Director
Public Safety
